(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Liz Helms, Founder and Director of the Chronic Care Policy Alliance (CCPA), issued the following urgent statement calling on Congress to take immediate action on critical healthcare reforms:
“The Chronic Care Policy Alliance (CCPA) urges Congress to prioritize patients and pass legislation now that addresses Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) reforms, extends telehealth services, and enacts H.R. 2407: The Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act.
These reforms cannot wait. PBM practices continue to create unnecessary barriers and increase out-of-pocket costs for patients, limiting access to life-saving medications. Telehealth services, which have become a lifeline for millions—especially those in rural or underserved areas—must not lapse, as they are essential for ensuring equitable healthcare access. Furthermore, passing the MCED Act would provide earlier cancer detection, improving outcomes and saving lives across the nation.
Congress has the opportunity to transform healthcare for patients with chronic conditions and beyond with these three initiatives. Patients deserve action now—not later. CCPA calls on Congress to deliver meaningful reforms that will expand healthcare access, reduce costs, and improve health outcomes for all Americans.
