Pharmacy Care Access
Pharmacists are health care providers. They are likely the closest and the easiest for the patient to access, particularly for vulnerable senior communities, rural Americans, and those in medically underserved areas.
They played a pivotal role during the pandemic when patients needed access to testing and vaccination. Pharmacists continue to operate under temporary authorities put in place in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We need their authority to be made permanent to augment our increasingly insufficient number of providers and accommodate the needs of patients.
Congress should enact legislation to provide payment for essential pharmacist services under Medicare Part B. Here is a link to a YouTube video: HERE. You can visit the Future of Pharmacy Care Coalition to learn more about this issue.
