Chronic Care Policy Alliance (CCPA) hosted a webinar on September 20, 2023, “Ensuring Patient Voices Are Heard During Medicare’s Drug Price Negotiation Listening Sessions.” It was a robust discussion on how patient groups can engage with the Centers for Medicaid Services (CMS) during the IRA listening sessions comment period. We would like to thank our speakers for providing attendees with invaluable insights into the policy and how groups and patients can engage in the process. Speakers covered the following topic areas:
- Michael Ward, Vice President of Public Policy & Government Relations at the Alliance for Aging Research provided an overview of the IRA and reviewed the process to this point. In addition, Michael discussed MDPNP implementation, and gave a preview how groups can engage with CMS.
- Michaela Sims, President of Sims Strategies talked about why it is important to engage in the process, how to engage in the process, and provided a detailed overview of how to fill out the online form.
- Tiffany Westrich-Robertson, Chief Executive Officer of AiArthritis covered the importance of the patient perspective and gave an update on the organization’s efforts around IRA implementation.
