Statement on CMS Lowering Insulin Costs for Seniors

Joan Werblun, RN, advisory committee member of the Chronic Care Policy Alliance, issued the following statement today in response to CMS lowering out-of-pocket insulin costs for Medicare’s seniors:

“We applaud CMS and the Trump administration for implementing the Part D Senior Savings Model to lower the cost of insulin for seniors with diabetes. For many patients, high and unpredictable out-of-pocket costs are a significant barrier to medication adherence and maintaining good health.

“This model is a step in the right direction, and we encourage the White House and Congress to continue to pursue patient-focused reforms to lower out-of-pocket costs in Medicare and throughout the health care system.”
